Brand New Adventure Novel!

Visit Mayan temples and the lost port of Chontal!
Go to the Totonacan great city of Teotihuacan, The temple of El Tajin and Zemboala.

Escape to a time and place in Ancient Mesoamerica, present day Mexico. Meet Ora Ka-Buk, our heroine, who emerges as an innocent sixteen year old daughter of the local fishing village’s chief, and thus, has the liberty to go freely on her way each day to swim the turquoise lagoon and revel in the undersea beauty nature delivers. But this day is quite different from all her days of the past. For the gods have chosen Ora to receive a gift from the heavens, a tiny Gem Star buried in coral rock for 65 million years after it rode an asteroid down to Earth, yet was flung across the sea to settle just offshore of her beautiful lagoon.

Ora's Mayan heritage and adventurous spirit inspires her to capture the flashy, fiery ball. She absorbs all the energy and enlightenment it pours forth for only her to control.  In a time when women were of a lower class and denied spiritual participation, Ora breaks these bonds and begins a journey of discovery and adventure, empowerment, and, eventually, leadership to save her people from the scourge and enslavement by the mighty King of the great City of the Gods, Teotihuacan. In between, Ora befriends the great Bahlum, the jaguars that are masters of the jungle and feared by all. But the Gem Star allows Ora to telepathically communicate with the mightiest of the bahlum, who she names Agar. They become inseparable, and Agar his mistresses’ guardian.

Meet Atol the prince and son of Kiko the chief of the Cacao Village. Cocoa is the most prized crop of all of Mesoamerica, and is used as a medium of exchange in barter and for its delicious drink and liquors. Atol and Ora fall in love, but only briefly, for their fathers decide who Atol shall marry. But Atol never stops loving Ora and knows her secret, for he too has shared in the energy of the Gem Star. Atol is a master craftsman, farmer, and natural leader. He tries to convince the two chiefs that trade across the sea is more beneficial than trade with the king of the great city. And they all know the king has an army of warriors, led by an evil, ruthless general, Wac the Fearless (see sample chapter).

Ora is alone to learn of the exceptional powers of the GemStar, counseled only by the loving advice of her grandmother, Ata. The Gem Star works its wonders both night and day. When Ora is asleep she travels in cosmic revelations, she ventures to the center of the Earth, The Underworld, and she is taken inside the magic sphere for a ride to bear witness of the Earth’s creation, nature’s development, animal beginnings, and the evolvement of man. Each time the sphere circles the Earth, Ora is shown the next chapter in the saga of our glorious planet. Yet near the end of her dream sequence, she realizes the reign of man is wrought with constant conflict and never ending suffering of the lesser by the stronger.

The plot thickens when the king learns of the magic stone.  Ora must leave for the land of her grandfather, the land of the Mayans.  She will learn of their ferocity in battle and how they pillaged and decimated her ancestor’s village, where only her grandfather escaped.

Ora’s fate is now just beginning.  She returns home a warrior princess because she must save her people.  She convinces Atol and unites man and beast against insurmountable odds of the powerful army of Wac. Because she is worthy and understanding of her precious gift, do the gods stand with her.

When her physical task is complete she becomes remorse, for she too has joined the ranks of the aggressor, the killer, and the defender. The Gem Star must find a new home so that no one unworthy can use it. Ora knows what to do with it.
